We are delighted to announce that we have been commissioned to manage the Kiritimati Island Energy Sector Program (KIESP), one of the largest and most complex projects we have undertaken in this region.
The KIESP is a NZ$13 million, four-year project which will transform the energy infrastructure on Kiritimati, a critical step for the country’s socio-economic development. It is jointly funded by the European Union and New Zealand Government in partnership with the Government of Kiribati.
The project involves the construction of a new distribution network and deployment of new generation assets including photovoltaics and diesel generators. It will result in a reliable, high quality energy supply, ensure the electricity system is financially sustainable, and deliver training, capacity development and community education. We look forward to assisting the people of Kiribati in attaining electricity supply standards that most of us take for granted.
Our previous Managing Director, Simon Troman, has taken on the role of KIESP Project Manager and spend extended periods of time on the island over the next two years.
